Our IGCSE Tracks
We offer both a two-year and a three-year IGCSE track to cater to different learning styles and academic goals.
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education is a set of examinations and qualifications designed for 14 to 16-year-olds. Borne out of the GCSE used in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the IGCSE has evolved to meet the needs of students across the globe.
The IGCSE syllabus covers a wide variety of subjects, with no limits on the number of qualifications students can achieve. Apart from the compulsory subjects, students can select their own combination to personalise their curriculum. Normally, a student will study each subject over a two or three year period, sitting exams in May/June of their second or third year.
The IGCSE uses A* – G grading scale, with A* being the highest and G the lowest.
The Two-Year Track
This is an accelerated program designed for students who are comfortable handling a more rigorous pace and prefer to take fewer subjects, typically between 8 and 11. This track is best suited for students who can manage a faster pace of learning while maintaining strong academic performance.Students from Class 8 who wish to opt for the two-year track will be required to take an Admission Test for Mathematics and Science to ensure they are prepared for the demands of the accelerated program. Students in the two-year track will complete all their exams in a single session and will not have the option to appear for some subjects in the October/November series.
The Three-Year Track
This track offers a more balanced approach, allowing students to take between 9 and 15 subjects. This extended timeline provides more room for academic exploration, helping students discover their strengths and interests before deciding on a specialized path. Additionally, it gives them more flexibility to participate in co-curricular activities, competitions, and internships without feeling the pressure of a timeline. All students in the three-year track will take Pakistan Studies and Islamiat at the end of their second year. They also have the option to appear for three additional subjects at the end of the second year if they wish. However, English, Urdu, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Additional Mathematics and Art & Design must be taken in the final year of the program to ensure depth of study. This structure allows them to spread out their workload while still ensuring they gain exposure to a variety of subjects.

Subject Selection and pogression after IGCSE
At LGS JTI Senior, we believe IGCSE is a time for exploration, not specialization. This is why we discourage students from selecting Business Studies, Commerce, and Accounting at this stage; there will be ample opportunity to specialize in these subjects later. Instead, we encourage students to develop a strong academic foundation across a broad range of disciplines.
While our IGCSE programme is structured to provide a smooth transition into the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP), we also recognize that some students may choose to pursue A Levels after completing IGCSE with us. Our curriculum is designed to keep pathways open, ensuring that students are well-prepared for either academic route based on their future aspirations.
Research and Global Perspectives
Our IGCSE curriculum is designed to be research-oriented, which is why Global Perspectives (GP) or Critical Thinking are compulsory subjects in the first year. These courses foster independent research skills and critical thinking by allowing students to explore global issues of personal interest, preparing them to become well-informed global citizens.
One of the key reasons we have made these courses compulsory are because they serve as excellent preparation for the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP). The research, analysis, and inquiry-based learning skills developed closely align with the demands of the IBDP, particularly in subjects like the Extended Essay (EE) and Theory of Knowledge (TOK). By engaging with research and writing early on, students build a strong foundation for the research-intensive nature of the IB, making their transition to the program smoother and more effective.
Student Portfolios and Holistic Development
Education at LGS JTI Senior goes beyond academics. From the moment a student joins our IGCSE program, we begin curating a personalized portfolio that tracks their extracurricular activities, internships, and volunteer work. We provide continuous guidance on passion projects, research opportunities, and enrichment activities tailored to their interests and future aspirations.
By nurturing both academic and personal growth, we aim to ensure that every student is equipped to thrive—not just in exams, but in life.
We believe college counseling is essential for you, and thus we guide you in subject selection, profile building, and local and international university admissions. It ensures informed decisions, fosters confidence and propels you toward successful academic and professional futures. Led by a full-time staff member, this department oversees various aspects, including internship placements, careers lectures, and university fairs. Regular information sessions are held throughout the year, and guidance on how to apply to universities which are the best fit for you. The Programme Director and Education Advisor meet bi-weekly to discuss each student’s college profile, emphasizing the importance of this aspect. Unlike many schools in the country, JTI provides education advising to IGCSE students in their first year. This ensures that students are aware of the transformative impact this year will have on their transcript and examinations. Regular sessions are scheduled with Grade 9 for subject selection advice, and the Advising Officer’s door is always open and welcoming for all international section students.
